Petrol Mercedes S-class: what changes with a remap

A petrol remap re-works the engine management calibration: air-fuel ratio, ignition advance and boost where fitted. The result is more power and a more immediate throttle, delivered by software rather than hardware changes.

How the Mercedes S 300(-99) compares

Among the 16 petrol S-class engines we have figures for, the S 300(-99) ranks 11th for power gain, 7 bhp below the S-class petrol average of 32 bhp.

Across our whole catalogue the average petrol remap adds 27 bhp and 51 Nm, so this engine's 25 bhp and 35 Nm sits below that benchmark.
